The caption in the paper read, "Above is the graduation class of St. Mary's Kindergarten here May 13th. Pictured with the class are Sister M. Austin, R.C.D. and Father Henry F. Tevlin, C.O.  Included in the class are 3 children from St. Anne's Parish, Rock Hill." St. Mary Parish was traditionally the African American Parish in Rock Hill. When the Kindergarten was started at St. Mary in the fall of 1956, three white children were included in the enrollment with nineteen other students.</text>
