Garcia's American Dream
, painting by Art Gomez, Charleston, South Carolina, 2015. Born in California, Gomez' art is informed by his Latino and Apache heritage. This painting was inspired by the story of Charleston resident Santos Garcia, who was deported to Mexico afer a minor car accident in early November 2014. He left behind his wife and three young children in Charleston.
